Tis' the Season!

Be Careful with those Turkeys!

It’s that time of year again. Fall is transitioning to winter. The Lions are the Lions. The holidays are just around the corner. People are dusting off their turkey fryers for family gatherings.

Did you know that Thanksgiving is the peak day for cooking fires? We love a good fried turkey as much as the next guy, but let’s be careful out there. Here are a few precautions to remember:

-Stay in the area where you are cooking. Never leave that bird unattended! Overheating can cause a fire.

-Thaw your turkey before cooking. Water from a still frozen turkey can cause the oil to bubble over.

-Always use your turkey fryer outside and away from the home. Do not use fryers in garages or porches.

-Have the correct gear on hand. Oven mitts, apron, googles and a good fire extinguisher.

A visit from the fire department or a trip to the emergency room is no way to spend a holiday. Be safe!
